Natalie Gersch on the Penshurst Gardens Big Lunch Street Party for the King’s Coronation
Hundreds of local residents celebrated the King’s Coronation last weekend by attending street parties across the borough.
The Big Lunch Street Party that took place in Penshurst Gardens on Sunday was a remarkable success. This grand event brought together our vibrant community, including neighbouring streets and local shops, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone involved.
With over 200 enthusiastic attendees, the Big Lunch Street Party was a resounding triumph. The event showcased the unity and camaraderie that defines our community, as residents, neighbors, and local businesses came together to celebrate the joyous occasion.
We were honoured to have esteemed guests at the event, including the mayor, local councillors, members of the local community police force, the fire brigade, and the Hatzola Ambulance team. Their presence further emphasised the strong bond between the community and these essential services that tirelessly serve us.
Not only was the Big Lunch Street Party a delightful gathering filled with music, laughter, and merriment, but it also served as a platform to give back to the community. Through various fundraising activities, we raised an incredible sum of over £1,000, which will be donated to the Young Barnet Foundation. This generous contribution will support their invaluable work in empowering and nurturing the youth of our area.
The event showcased the true spirit of Penshurst Gardens, as neighbors opened their hearts and homes to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The local shops played a crucial role in making the day a success by offering their support, contributing to the event and offering raffle prizes.
Our event was not only a testament to the strength of our neighbourhood but also a celebration of unity, support, and the enduring spirit that makes our area such a special place.
A special thanks go to the Community Fund for supporting this project.
