St Mary-at-Finchley will be celebrating Heritage Open Days 2026 from Friday 11th September to Sunday 20th September with a fantastic programme of free-of-charge events:

Heritage Tours: Discover the rich history of its Grade II* listed church —the oldest building in Finchley — and its churchyard, home to seven Grade II listed monuments.

Why not combine a tour at 2pm on Saturday 12th September with a community gardening event beforehand from 10am until 12noon?

Patronal Festival: After the 10am Eucharist service on Sunday 13th September, organist Macie Sutherland will play music by Mendelssohn, JS Bach, Messiaen and Kerensa Briggs starting 11.30am, with coffee from 11.15am.

All are welcome to join the Patronal Festival lunch at 12.15pm, followed by a guided Healthy Heritage Walk at 2pm – this 5-mile circular walk, exploring local history and green spaces, will be followed by drinks and nibbles at 4.30pm

Historic Sundial Viewings: Enjoy a rare opportunity to see Finchley’s famous sundial, featured on BBC Antiques Roadshow and in a 1793/94 painting by J.M.W. Turner.
