Police investigate suspected arson at MP’s office

The fire in a shed at the constituency office of Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer last night is believed to have been started deliberately

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack following a fire at the constituency office of Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer on Christmas Eve.

The fire, which took place in a shed at the rear of the building in Ballards Lane, was spotted at around 7pm last night.

Freer told the the BBC: “”The police and fire brigade were on the scene in minutes and have been incredible in their response.”

Barnet police reported on X (formerly Twitter) that there were no injuries. They believe the fire may have been started deliberately but have so far made no arrests.

They are appealing for information and any witnesses are asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 4971/24Dec.
