Belmont and Edgware Cricket Club, one of the remaining Jewish cricket clubs in London, marked the end of the 2025 season with its annual AGM and awards night, as a new committee was elected.

Adam Morris was re-elected as club captain, as the club announced it would join a new league for the forthcoming season, and look to hold a tour in 2026 also.

While the evening included elections and constitutional amendments, it’s also a time to celebrate and honour the top performers.

Batsman of the year was scooped by Daniel Humphrey, while Bowler of the Year was leader of the attack Josh Reynolds. Former captain Elliott Mayer won both Fielder / Keeper of the Year and Player of the Year, while Australian top order batter Daniel Rabie took the Best Newcomer or Comeback title.

The Most Improved Player was Elisha Lev after a good year with the bat, as the teenage allrounder also won Players’ Player of the Year, voted for by his peers.

Gongs were also handed out for performance of the year in T20, friendlies and league fixtures, with young player of the year going to Emanuel Latchman, who scored his first fifty, and was superb with the ball.

Veteran bowler David Kaplan won the prestigious Stephen Davis Clubman’s Award, chosen by chairman Jonny Evans. Amazingly David Kaplan, who is one of the most popular members of the club and a leading senior player, with the second-most wickets, had never won the award, owing to his selfless and unassuming contributions over the last two decades.

When it came to elections, there were two contested votes as quick bowler Joshua Reynolds was elected as Membership Liaison, defeating club stalwart Michael Blasebalk. This comes after the role was vacated by Joel Azulay. The seamer was himself replaced as fixtures secretary by Rafi Kelion, who joined the committee for the first time. All other elected positions were held by incumbents. Jack Mendel won the other contested election, as social media and publicity officer.

The club also passed a number of constitutional amendments, including creating a new T20 captaincy, and voted for the role of vice captain to be elected, rather than appointed. These will be decided in the new year at an EGM.

Chairman of Belmont and Edgware CC, Jonny Evans said: “It was a fantastic evening looking back on the last year and forward to the next. Congratulations to all the award winners. It is also the sign of a healthy and thriving club that we had multiple contested elections.

“Next year promises to be an exciting one with joining a new league, more t20s and hopefully even a tour. Watch this space!”

Belmont and Edgware CC is one of two remaining Jewish cricket clubs in London, based in Mill Hill at Camdenians Sports and Social Club. It celebrated its 50th anniversary last season.
