Nick Sandamas sees Town secure a 4-1 victory in the alternative North London derby

Enfield Town cruised to victory over their fierce rivals from the neighbouring borough in front of an impressive bank holiday crowd of 749 in N12.

The Blues, hoping to follow up Saturday’s impressive win at Chatham, were a goal down with only three minutes on the clock.

A ball floated over the top to Amrit Bansal-McNulty left him to run unchallenged towards the box before slotting the ball low into the net past Blues’ keeper Charlie Grainger.

Billy Leonard was close to doubling the lead five minutes later but Grainger was equal to his shot. However, there was nothing he could do on 17 minutes as Bansal-McNulty chipped him to extend the Towers advantage.

The Blues were back in it on the cusp half time when a ball from Caolian Mcgettigan found skipper Jack Thomas on the right wing and his low cross was finished expertly by former Towner Anointed Chukwu from close range.

Leonard came close to restoring the away side’s two-goal lead five minutes into the second half but Grainger got down low to save his shot.

Blues’ Ashley Nzala came close to a leveller minutes before the hour but his effort was beaten out by keeper Dylan Thompson.

Then, on 62 minutes, Towners struck their third goal when Bansal-McNulty was provider for Shiloh Remy to net past a posse of players.

The fourth and final visitors’ goal arrived with thirteen minutes left on the clock as Thomas Augoustidis produced a clever chip over Grainger to send the Towners’ large contingent back over the borough border on top of the table whilst the Blues dropped down to 14th.

The FA Cup takes centre stage as the Blues host Felixstowe & Walton.
