Sadly, another Christmas approaches whilst Ukraine is still at war. Some Ukrainian children are still living with daily blackouts. General daily supplies can be short and there is always the threat of a drone attack.

To try and bring a small bit of Christmas cheer, our fantastic Barnet Elizabethan Rugby Minis, girls and boys aged six to 12 have wrapped and donated hundreds of gifts. They are being transported via an ambulance convoy to schools, near the front line, in Ukraine.

With help from Mighty Convoy, a not profit organisation that has donated over 100 ambulances and pick up trucks to Ukraine since the war began. Volunteer fund raisers and drivers drive the vehicles to Lviv and donate them to the Christian Medical Association Ukraine.

In this extra special convoy, one of the medical trucks has been stacked with hundreds of gifts from the Barnet Elizabethan Minis. Simon Brake, founder of Mighty Convoy played Santa and has picked up the gifts from Elizabethan’s clubhouse on Byng Road, Barnet. The gifts are in convoy, driving across Europe now. They are due to arrive this weekend (in time for Ukrainian Christmas which is St Nicholas’ Day on 9th December).

Other donations included in the convoy come from Barnet, Home Care Preferred. A fantastic company providing respite care, at home, to families across Barnet. Shir-Li founder of Barnet Home Care Preferred played Mrs Clause.

Barnet Elizabethan’s Rugby Football Club provides rugby training for over 500 hundred children in Barnet from age six all the way up to Academy and the adult 1st XV. It is a not-for-profit club run by volunteers. Rugby alumni include the Bracken brothers now playing professionally for Saracens.

The club is committed to TREDS rugby values, Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship we provide fitness and the fun of rugby to children in Barnet from all backgrounds.

It is supported by The Stags, past players and parents that provide additional funds to the club. These funds are used to assist children from disadvantaged backgrounds, in Barnet, to play rugby.
