Enda Maclaren from Stonegrove Community Trust on OneStonegrove’s Community Connector initiative
Have you ever had an idea that could make a real difference in your community?
In the role of Community Connector at OneStonegrove in Edgware, I am working with a dedicated team to help local residents turn that spark into reality. Whether it’s a workshop, a new activity, or a local initiative, OneStonegrove is offering the resources, support, and expert guidance to bring ideas to life. It’s about empowering local people to act, connect with others, and create lasting change right where they live.
Stonegrove Community Trust (SCT) is redefining what it means to be at the heart of a neighbourhood. More than just a venue, SCT is a resident-led charity that breathes life into Stonegrove and Edgware, through its flagship space, OneStonegrove.
By blending creativity, support, and local insight, SCT helps individuals transform their ideas into impactful community projects, fostering a spirit of inclusion, resilience, and connection.
At the core of SCT’s success is OneStonegrove, a vibrant community hub that offers residents a welcoming environment to bring their visions to life. This unique space doesn’t just host activities; it serves as a launchpad for initiatives that reflect the diverse needs and aspirations of the local community.
Through the Community Connector initiative, SCT is inviting residents with a passion for change to collaborate, providing practical support, advice, and even free access to spaces equipped with everything from Wi-Fi to printing facilities.
The process begins with an informal meeting, where the initiative team works closely with residents to refine their ideas, offering expert guidance on planning, event management, and community engagement. From securing resources to navigating local networks, the team’s knowledge and connections help turn fledgling concepts into thriving projects.
Past initiatives range from life coaching sessions and car boot sales to baking classes and environmental efforts, including a community-led solar panel project that promotes sustainable energy solutions and reduces the hub’s carbon footprint.
One of the biggest challenges for grassroots projects is finding affordable, accessible spaces to operate. OneStonegrove removes this barrier by offering free use of meeting rooms and open areas, creating a low-risk environment for residents to trial their ideas without the pressure of rental costs. This supportive setting not only nurtures new initiatives but also encourages participants to develop valuable skills in leadership, facilitation, and networking.
However, the true power of SCT’s approach lies in the connections it fosters. By participating in OneStonegrove’s initiatives, residents aren’t just organising events; they’re building relationships and inspiring others to get involved. These interactions often lead to long-lasting friendships and a stronger, more cohesive community. With promotion through newsletters, social media, and word of mouth, SCT ensures that every project gets the visibility it deserves.
OneStonegrove is not just about turning ideas into action; it’s about empowering individuals to become active, engaged members of their community. By providing a platform for local voices to be heard, SCT continues to inspire a culture of collaboration and mutual support. The success of OneStonegrove is a testament to what’s possible when a community comes together, transforming not only their immediate surroundings but also the lives of those who live within them.
OneStonegrove embodies the belief that everyone has the potential to make a difference.
Whether you’re planning a workshop, launching a new group, or simply exploring an idea that could bring people together, SCT’s commitment to nurturing local talent makes it an invaluable asset to Stonegrove. It’s not just a space—it’s a community in action, and its doors are open to all who want to be a part of something bigger.

Case studies
(i) Assiya, Kacey, and Gabby, active members of the Stonegrove Estate youth community, are determined to create a memorable prom for their year six classmates. Engaged in programmes like Fuse Youth Projects and Jackson Lane Circus Skills, they devised a plan to fundraise by hosting weekly bake sales with parents and Enda’s support.
Their dedication quickly raised nearly £1,200, securing funds for the celebration. They rented a hall at OneStonegrove to bring their vision to life, transforming the space into an unforgettable prom night to mark this important milestone in their academic journey.
(ii) Summer water parties at the centre, initiated by dedicated parents, have become a beloved tradition. Families gather for a fun-filled event featuring water battles, delicious food, and lively music. In 2023, community funds supported five mini-parties, providing more opportunities for families to create lasting summer memories together.
