Developer gives £26,000 in community grants

Local charities and community groups in Edgware receive more than £26k in grants from a community fund.

More than £26,000 has been awarded to twelve local charities and community groups by property developer Ballymore.

The Edgware Town Centre Community Fund provides grants of up to 3,000 for local community groups to help them to unite communities, promote health and wellbeing, champion young people, skills and training or enhance the public realm in and around Edgware.

Among the first successful applicants of the scheme were The Hive Foundation, which provides equipment for sporting opportunities for young people to improve their health and wellbeing; Stonegrove Community Trust, which provides support and activities to reduce loneliness amongst the elderly; and Mill Hill Community Choir, which provides singing lessons for residents of all ages to strengthen community relationships.

Agnes Keszthelyi, volunteer at Mill Hill Community Choir said: “The Mill Hill Community Choir is thrilled to receive this grant, which will help us deepen our impact within the Community.” 

Recipients received up to £3000 from the fund, helping them to deliver a wide range of projects and services for local people. Simon Ryan, Developments Director at Ballymore said: “We are delighted to announce the recipients of the Edgware Town Centre Community Fund. Ballymore are committed to giving back to our amazing community in Edgware, which we are proud to have been a part of for the past four years.

“The quality and the diversity of the applications was incredible to see and is a real testament to the community spirit that Edgware is known for. By providing over £26,000 in funding for local community groups we are proud to be supporting projects that will benefit residents of all ages across Edgware.”

Ballymore, working with TfL’s property company Places for London is proposing to building 3,365 new homes in Edgware, including up to 1,150 affordable homes, and 463 student accommodation spaces.
