20-year-old Shekhem Manning-Egeonwon had over 100 videos of the women he was following on his mobile phone
A Hendon man has been jailed for stalking two women in Barnet.
Shekhem Manning-Egeonwon, 20, of Sturgess Avenue in Hendon, was sentenced to 32 months in prison on Friday 9th August at Harrow Crown Court. He was also made the subject of a restraining order.
He had been convicted at the same court on 12th January. He had initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty during the trial after evidence after CCTV evidence was presented in court that showed him following women.
Manning-Egeonwon was arrested after police received a report in September 2023 from a woman in her 30s who had been followed by him for five months as she took her child to a school in Barnet.
The woman subsequently called officers when she saw Manning-Egeonwon again and, after driving round with officers, he was identified and arrested. As Manning-Egeonwon was being arrested, another woman, in her 40s, approached the officers and told them she was also being followed by him.
Further enquiries resulted in more than 100 videos being recovered from Manning-Egeonwon’s mobile phone that showed not only the two victims but more women being followed.
Detective Constable Jas Brar, who investigated the offences, said: “The scale of offending in this case was extreme. Manning-Egeonwon was stalking women day and night and in some cases approached them directly or knocked on their door.
“His actions were menacing and highly intrusive and caused extreme distress to the women he targeted. It is completely unacceptable that anyone should be afraid to leave their home for fear of this kind of harassment or that their sense of personal safety should be damaged in this way.
“I would like to thank the victims for supporting the investigation and sincerely hope that they can now move forward with a degree of confidence, knowing that Manning-Egeonwon is no longer free to roam the streets.”
