A hospice has launched its annual flagship fundraising appeal with an accompanying new short film.

Barnet-based charity Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice has recently released a short film as a fundraising initiative as part of their ‘From That Moment’ campaign, with a target of £1 million. The hospice works with children diagnosed with life-threatening or life-shortening conditions, and their families.

Their aim with this campaign is to encourage donations and support from individuals, schools and businesses in the community.

The film, made by The 10 Group, features three families whose lives changed after their children were diagnosed, and how the hospice supported them.

The film includes the stories of Arabella Palmer (7) who was diagnosed with leukaemia; Hudayfa Roble (3) who suffered a severe brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation at ten months old; Ben Charles, who died aged 17 in 2014 from STXBP1 disorder; and Sophie Charles (20), also diagnosed with STXBP1 disorder, as well as their families.

It features accounts from their families of their experiences of diagnosis, and how the hospice was able to support them with sibling support, creative therapies, music therapy, specialist play, respite care and family support.

The film aims to demonstrate the support that the hospice can offer, as well as showing that, as Sophie and Ben’s grandmother Rose Charles says, it focuses on “life, not […] end of life”.

This is a “powerful and moving piece”, says Noah’s Ark’s director of fundraising and communications Philip Roethenbaugh. He adds: “It’s particularly rewarding to see the strength and consistency of our campaign work.” The hospice’s 2025 ‘From That Moment’ campaign film, made by Moreover, was awarded ‘Most Emotional Impact’ at the Brand Film Awards last year.
