Children’s playgrounds in Barnet are to benefit from £750,000-worth of upgrades under plans drawn up by the council.
The investment is set to provide new swings, slides, climbing frames and other facilities at five sites the council believes will “benefit the most from refurbishment”.
The town hall has launched a consultation on the improvements so that residents can have their say on the proposals.
Tudor Sports Ground, in New Barnet, has been allocated £150,000 to improve its play facilities, including new swings and a play ship.
Princes Park, in Golders Green, is set to receive £185,000 to fund a new play area with a slide and carousel for older children, and to install two new goal posts.
A £100,000 funding boost for Ducks Island playground in Chipping Barnet would provide slides, swings and other equipment.
Basing Hill Play Area and Stoneyfields Park are also set to receive funding, although the consultations on the proposed improvements will not open until 12th September.
The council has provided details and images of the improvements on the consultation website, and residents can share their views by completing an online questionnaire. It is also running pop-up events in each playground, where the public will be able to view the proposals and discuss them with council staff.
The consultation on the initial three sites will run until 18th August and is available here: https://engage.barnet.gov.uk/playground-improvements-consultation
