A 19-year-old man was arrested in Portsmouth this morning in connection with the attack on Finchley Reform Synagogue

Police have arrested a third person in connection with an attempted arson attack on a Finchley synagogue last month.
The 19-year-old man was arrested at an address in Portsmouth this morning and has been taken into custody.
This follows the arrests of a 38-year-old woman and 46-year-old man in Watford on April 15th following the attempted attack on Finchley Reform Synagogue in Fallow Court Avenue early that morning.
No damage was caused to the building and no injuries were reported.
Commander Helen Flanagan, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, said: “We are continuing to make progress in all our ongoing investigations linked to various recent arson attacks across London.
“Counter-terrorism officers continue to work closely with our colleagues in the Metropolitan Police in response to the incidents. We’re providing protective security advice and support to various organisations, community venues and businesses.
She added: “With the threat level now raised to severe, everyone can play their part to keep themselves and their communities safe. If you have concerns about someone behaving suspiciously, please report it to us. Your information could help us save lives.”
Following last month’s attack, MP Sarah Sackman praised the response of the local community at a gathering organised to show solidarity with the synagogue.
