A Barnet Council cabinet member has praised staff at the borough’s schools after every single state school received a strong rating from inspectors.

Cabinet member for family friendly Barnet Pauline Coakley-Webb hailed the news that, following the recent inspection of Coppetts Wood Primary School, all the borough’s schools are now rated as meeting the standards expected by inspection body Ofsted.

Before the start of the 2025/26 year, Coppetts Wood Primary was the only school in the borough not to have a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ rating from the inspectors. Due to a change in the inspection model, these terms are no longer used by Coppetts Wood has achieve a rating of ‘expected standard’.

This the first time since Ofsted inspections began in 1993 that all the borough’s schools have been rated at least good/expected in all the main elements of their work that are inspected.

Cllr Coakley-Webb said: “This is a huge achievement and a testament to the dedication and hard work of the teachers, the school support staff, the governors and our Barnet Education and Learning Service officers who work tirelessly to ensure Barnet’s children and young people receive the best education possible.

“I would like to thank them all for giving our children the best possible start in life and also to the amazing parents and carers who support them.”
