Saturday’s clash with Solihull Moors was decided by Lee Ndlovu, who came off the bench with half an hour left and struck twice to give the table topping Bees a massive win.

The Bees made two changes from last week’s draw at Boston with on-loan striker Dom Telford replacing Ndlovu and Ade Oluwo replacing the suspended Danny Collinge.

Before kick off, both sides lined up for an immaculately observed minute’s applause in memory of Roger Figg, a regular for the Black & Amber throughout the 1960s, passed away earlier this week at the age of 84.

The first opportunity on goal saw the Bees’ Callum Stead hit an effort which rolled wide of the post with ten minutes on the clock.

However, the home side took the lead on 28 minutes, when Telford struck on his first start: Stead made a great run towards the right side of the area brushing off his marker and found Telford who finished with aplomb.

Seven minutes later, Glover had a chance to double the home side’s lead but his shot brushed the outside of the post.

With 25 seconds gone at the start of the second half, Moors levelled when the ball was played to Fletcher Holman who blasted the ball high into the net from just outside the box: the first opposition player to breach the Bees’ net in six games.

On the hour Dean Brennan made the unusual step of bringing on four substitutes including Ndlovu. And it was the Bees who went back in front on 76 minutes when, after a forceful run forward, Myles Kenlock played the ball to Rhys Browne who then found Ndlovu and he shot home off the bar to restore the Bees’ lead despite Moors’ protests that the ball had not crossed the line.

Stead had a great chance to give the Bees some daylight as the clock ticked towards ninety, but his close-range shot saw Wright brilliantly turn the ball around the post for a corner.

Then, in the fourth minute of added on time & with the Moors pushing for an equaliser, the Bees exploited gaps at the back to put the game to bed.

Stead provided a low pass inside the box and Ndlovu finished neatly for game, set & match.

With Forest Green surprisingly losing, York comfortably beat Woking to move up to second, four points behind the Bees with two games in hand, giving tonight’s game between the top two at The Hive the makings of a potential cracker.
