David Pinto-Duschinsky, Sarah Sackman and Dan Tomlinson all voted to support the government’s cut to payments for most pensioners

Barnet’s three newly-elected Labour MPs have backed the government’s plans to cut winter fuel payments for most pensioners.
David Pinto-Duschinsky (Hendon), Sarah Sackman (Finchley and Golders Green) and Dan Tomlinson (Chipping Barnet) all voted against today’s opposition motion to reverse the changes proposed by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, at the end of July.
The government defeated the motion by 348 votes to 228. 53 Labour MPs did not vote for the government’s position but it is not clear how many of these did so because they oppose the policy, as MPs often miss votes in parliament with the permission of their party due to health reasons or other commitments. Only one Labour MP voted against the government.
Barnet’s three Labour MP’s all replaced Conservatives at the general election.
