An Edgware man will appear in court today charged with a series of firearms offences.

Faisal Rassaq, 41, of Buckingham Road was charged this morning with:

  • Possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, or enable another to do so
  • Possessing ammunition with intent to endanger life, or enable another to do so
  • Possessing a firearm when prohibited for life
  • Possessing ammunition for a firearm when prohibited for life.

He was remanded to appear at Willesden Magistrates Court later today.

The charges come after police officers searching a property in Buckingham Road found a pistol and eight rounds of ammunition.

The search was carried out as part of an ongoing Metropolitan Police operation to crack down on lethal weapons.

In a statement yesterday, Detective Inspector Andy Durham, whose team are leading the investigation, said: “A top priority in the Met is to tackle gun crime and make London’s streets safer for our communities.

“Thanks to the diligent and dedicated work of officers, we have made an arrest and seized a dangerous weapon.

“Guns have no place on our streets and we will continue to do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice who pose the greatest risk to Londoners.”
