Melvin Cohen was the longest serving councillor in Barnet’s history

A plaque in remembrance of Barnet’s longest-serving councillor has been installed in a Golders Green park.
The plaque dedicated to former Golders Green councillor Melvin Cohen, who served on the council for 40 years and had two terms as mayor of the borough, was installed last month.
Barnet Conservative group said the plaque – which was put in place after Cllr Cohen’s son, Cllr Dean Cohen and group leader Cllr Peter Zinkin worked with the council’s parks team – “stands as a testament to Cllr Cohen’s enduring impact on the community”.
There will be an official unveiling ceremony in the coming weeks.
