‘The Magic Table’ delivers virtual adventure to care home residents

Carlton Court Care Home in Chipping Barnet is using a ‘Magic Table’ to bring fun, laughter and conversation to residents.
The Magic Table, or OmiVista interactive table to give it its proper title, used projection and motion sensing technology to create a number of different interactive experiences. The table can show quizzes, music, games and therapeutic scenes and sounds.
Sarah Pratt, Business Development Manager at Carlton Court, describes watching people interact with the table as “magical”. The home uses the table as part of their regular Dementia Cafe. “This was so much fun,” said Lisa, daughter of a resident, “and a great experience that gets Mum out of her room and socialising. I wish I had more time to spend looking at the other Apps.”
The interactive table has a variety of applications, which aim to be engaging and enjoyable.
Dympna, a Carlton Court resident said: ““I like the way the images can be speeded up or slowed down. I haven’t laughed like this in ages.”
