A property developer has made a significant donation to a food bank in Colindale to help the organisation tackle rising demand for its services.

Barratt London gave £22,000 to Colindale Foodbank last month. The food bank is based in Trinity Church on Avion Crescent, which is near Barratt’s Ridgeway Views development in Mill Hill.

The money will enable the food bank to buy essential food to support vulnerable people in the local community following a drop off in individual donations due to the cost of living crisis.

Pat Mansfield, Manager at Colindale Foodbank said: “Since last year, the demand from those making use of our service has doubled, with many families using our food bank for the first time as they struggle to make ends meet.

“We were once able to rely on donations from households but as everyone experiences the financial squeeze larger donations, like this one from Barratt London, have become essential.”

Steve Thompson, Managing Director for Barratt East London, who attended the cheque handover, said: “During a challenging time for households across the UK, it’s been great to be able to support the invaluable work done by Colindale Foodbank.”

He added: “With all our developments across London, we focus on nurturing a local community, so it’s important that we support those most vulnerable in these neighbourhoods wherever we can.”
