London’s first ever cost of living advice bus embarked on the first stage of a three-month long tour of the capital today, providing advice and support to those struggling with debts.

Debt Free Advice will visit 35 locations across the capital over the next three months thanks to £145,000 of funding from City Hall.

The bus will be based in public locations such as supermarkets and library car parks and will offer consultations and drop-in money advice sessions.

It comes following recent City Hall polling which found nearly a third of Londoners who say they are struggling financially are going into debt to manage increased living costs.

The Debt Free Advice Bus was launched on Wednesday at Trafalgar Square by mayor of London Sadiq Khan.

The mayor said: “The cost of living crisis is hitting Londoners hard and, as Christmas approaches bringing more financial strain, many Londoners will be worrying how they will make ends meet over the coming months.

“No-one should have to face these difficulties on their own. I’m determined to build a better London for everyone, and I want every Londoner to know that free, expert advice is available in their local area, through the new Debt Free advice bus or over the phone.”

After departing Trafalgar Square on Wednesday, the bus will stop in Rathbone Market, Canning Town on November 24 and 25 before moving on to the Venture Centre in Notting Hill on November 28.

The bus will then stop in East Ham, Brent, Hammersmith at the end of November and beginning of December. More locations and dates will be announced in due course.
