Due to demand from children and young people who want less screen time and more green time the 3rd Totteridge Scout Group has re-opened to enable more young people to get outdoors and take part in activities and adventure.

Children and young people will be taking part in activities and adventures, having fun, thinking on their feet, being part of a team and learning new skills. Scouts offers over two hundred activities from abseiling and coding to drama and water-zorbing.

Dwayne Fields, adventurer, TV presenter, and Chief Scout said: “It’s so important that young people have a chance to get outdoors and to feel wet grass under their feet and a little mud on their hands. Living and working together with others at camp and on outdoor activities helps build an adventure spirit, respect and grit – all key life skills.”

In a recent poll 94% of Scouts said they had developed useful skills, 95% said they’ve tried activities they haven’t tried before and 85% said they are happier since joining.

Tracey, Barnet lead volunteer said: “There are also opportunities for adults to join in the fun.  Whether you want to work with young people directly or help out behind the scenes, there’s something for everyone at Scouts.

“What’s really needed is a smile, patience, and willingness to share a little time to help others. Volunteers say they get back ten times what they put in – including new skills, new friends, and a renewed sense of the difference they can make when people work together.”

Meetings take place in the 3rd Totteridge Scout Hut, Badgers Croft, Totteridge Village, Barnet N20 8AH.

Whether you have a young person wanting to go on an adventure, or you’re an adult wanting to help create these adventures – contact the team [email protected] to find out more.
