Barnet entered October on the back of an upturn in form following two league wins and a draw and that fine run continued with a 2-0 home win over Accrington Stanley.

Callum Stead notched his first ever league goal with Ryan Glover adding a second in the second half.

The following weekend saw them make the trip to Merseyside to face Tranmere Rovers in what was the first ever meeting between these two sides.

A large contingent of Bees’ fans made the long journey to Prenton Park and were rewarded with a 2-0 victory with Lee Ndlovu and Adam Senior strikes in the first half giving them all three points to push themselves into the play off spots.

Southall ended the Bees’ interest in the Middlesex Senior Cup with a 5-1 thrashing of a young Barnet side.

Then, it was heartbreak when Notts County stole all three points at The Hive in stoppage time, as Tyrese Hall struck late in a game that was dominated by the home side. The Bees had numerous chances but found Magpies’ keeper Kelle Roos in inspired form to keep them out.

After that, a last minute strike by Emanuel Osadebe handed the Bees victory by the odd goal in five in their Vertu Trophy match against Cambridge. Osadebe scored following earlier strikes by Ndlovu and on his debut, Britt Assombalonga. The much travelled striker, best known for his time at Middlesbrough in the Championship, is a former DR Congo international who had been playing in Turkey before joining the Bees.

The month ended with another long trip all the way to Cumbria to take on Barrow and, despite playing against ten men for over half the game following a red card given to the home side’s Michael Williams late in the first half, the Bees had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw.

Callum Stead and Adam Senior scored to leave the Bees in a healthy twelfth place in the League Two table with 21 points from 14 games. Even more positively, they are only two points behind Chesterfield who are in the final play-off spot in seventh.

Barnet begin November’s fixtures with their first step on the long road to Wembley, with a trip to Fleetwood in the FA Cup followed by four league games to finish the month.

Two home fixtures see MK Dons and Harrogate visit The Hive, sandwiched in between visits to Cambridge and Gillingham.

Things are looking much brighter as we look to progress up the table.
