Barnet 0 Notts County 1

Tottenham loanee Tyreese Hall scored in the dying embers of the game to give his Notts County side victory & break Barnet hearts in the process. It was County’s one & only shot on target in the whole game.

The Bees made one enforced change with Owen Evans getting the nod in goal to replace the suspended Ciaran Slicker.

The Bees started brightly with a lot of possession and several corners but they were unable to get a decent shot on goal until the 27th minute. At that point, Ryan Glover got in behind the defence to find Lee Ndlovu in the six yard box but Magpies’ keeper Kelle Roos got down well to stop his first time shot on the line.

Next to try his luck was Adam Senior but his effort went way over the bar and Danny Collinge later hit the post with the assistant’s flag already up as the first half ended goalless.

The Magpies altered their tactics at the start of the second half with a double change but it was the Bees who then had a few opportunities to break the deadlock.

First, Idris Kanu warmed the hands of Roos with an easy save whilst Nnamdi Ofoborh’s curling shot was pushed away by the Magpies’ number one.

Hall came close with a ripper for the visitors but his shot hit the top of the bar.

Then, with the hour approaching, left back Romany Crichlow let fly with a curler but again Roos was there to tip the ball over the ball.

Ollie Hawkins came on for the tired Ndlovu with 15 minutes to go and he came close soon after but was off target.

Then, as the game entered the fourth minute of added on time, the sucker punch arrived to break Bees’ hearts.

Maz Kouhyar’s shot on the edge of the area deflected into the path of the unmarked Hall who slotted the ball low into the net to send the near 1300 County following into raptures.

It was a bitter pill to swallow after the Bees’ recent good form and afterwards Dean Brennan said he was proud of his players despite the defeat (only their second in the last eight league games).

Next up, Barnet host Cambridge Utd in the Vertu Trophy this Tuesday and then next Saturday make the long journey up the M1 & M6 to face Barrow where they will be hoping to continue their good recent away record.
