Plans for hundreds of new homes, a hotel and student accommodation near Hendon Station have been submitted.

A total of 368 homes as well as a new 243-bed hotel and 246-unit student accommodation block could be built on a slither of land between the M1 motorway and the railway line, just north of the station.

The proposals, dubbed ‘Hendon Goods Yard’, have been submitted by Efraim Stein. If approved, the scheme will see six tower blocks built in a row alongside a two-storey podium providing direct access through the site.

Two blocks will be up to 25 and 29 storeys in height and contain residential flats. One block, up to 24 storeys, will contain the student accommodation. The hotel will be up to 25 storeys and the remaining two blocks, 23 and 19 storeys respectively, will contain affordable housing.

Approximately 55% of the residential housing will be designated as affordable, as well as 50% of the student accommodation.

A total of 183 car parking spaces will be part of the development, including the reprovision of Network Rail parking spaces. The parking plans consist of 114 residential spaces, plus eleven disabled spaces, 38 spaces for station users as well as five disabled spaces, eight disabled spaces for students and seven disabled spaces for the rest of the development.

The plans also include around 785 long-stay cycle parking and 44 short-stay spaces.

More information on the scheme can be found via Barnet Council’s planning portal, using reference number 25/2722/FUL.
