Residents will be voting to replace a Labour councillor who quit in mysterious circumstances last week, reports Grace Howarth, Local Democracy Reporter

Barnet Council has confirmed a by-election will be held in Whetstone on Thursday, 15th May.
The by-election was triggered after Labour’s Liron Velleman resigned last week in mysterious circumstances.
Last Tuesday (1st) Velleman’s party affiliation was changed from Labour to independent on the council’s website and, shortly afterwards, the party confirmed he had resigned. No further explanation has been given.
A by-election has now been called and voters will have until Monday, 28th April, to register to vote and until Tuesday 29th to register to vote by post.
Polling stations will be open across the ward from 7am to 10pm on 15th May.
The council has reminded voters to bring a valid form of voter identification when voting at their polling station.
For more information on the election and how to register to vote, visit the council website.
The candidate list is yet to be announced.
