Barnet Council held an event in partnership with Barnet African Caribbean Association and Middlesex University on June 22nd

Barnet residents celebrated Windrush Day last month with a successful community event.
Windrush Day, on June 22nd, is named for the ship the HMT Windrush which brought the first postwar immigrants from the West indies to the UK, and the community’s contribution to the country.
The Barnet Council event, held in collaboration with Barnet African Caribbean Association and Middlesex University, featured Barnet Windrush stories, poetry, inspiring discussions, uplifting music, and Caribbean food.
The council continues to seek members of the borough’s Windrush generation, so it can document their lives through video interviews, a book, an exhibition and a website. If you’d like to share a story or support this project.
