Barnet Council has announced the appointment of a new director of public health.
Dr Janet Djomba is a public health professional with over 15 years of experience. She joined the council in 2019 and became Deputy director of public health in Autumn 2022. She has been the acting director of public health since the departure of her predecessor in December last year.
The council says that the public health team: “works with council departments and partners to reduce health inequalities in the borough and ensure that everyone who lives, works or studies locally can achieve their full health and wellbeing potential.”
It describes the team’s priorities as: “supporting children’s health, increasing vaccination and cancer screening uptake, strengthening mental health and other community health initiatives, smoking cessation support and health checks in the community.”
