Catherine Lusted on Christmas time at the borough’s libraries

Are you feeling festive? Barnet libraries can help you get into the mood with a programme of festive events. You can try candle decorating or making a Christmas village, gingerbread house or snow globe. How about making your own Christmas cards this year? Children can join the workshop and create their own festive message to share. Celebrate Chanukah at a triarama workshop.
There’s also a gingerbread house mystery trail for children and a Christmas surprise event for over 60s and their carers. Discover the full programme and booking details here.
Christmas book displays will tempt you with a seasonal book to curl up with over the break. Pop in and see what’s on offer at your local library.
There are some temporary closures to libraries this month. Finchley Church End Library is closed from Monday 1st to Friday 5th December for upgrade works to study facilities. It re-opens on Saturday 6th December.
All libraries will be closed on Friday 5th December for staff training. Libraries will re-open at 4pm in usual opening times apart from Finchley Church End Library which is closed all day.
Chipping Barnet Library will be temporarily closed for essential electrical works from Monday 8th December to Sunday 4th January. You can visit North Finchley or Osidge libraries which will have more staffed opening times while Chipping Barnet Library is closed. Find out more here.
No news is bad news
