Residents will pay their respects at services across the borough on Sunday, 9th November

Residents across Barnet will come together on Sunday to pay their respects to those who have died in conflicts around the world.
Services and parades will take place at churches across the borough to mark Remembrance Sunday. While most service will take place on Sunday 9th, some will also take place on other dates.
The mayor of Barnet, Cllr Danny Rich, will lay wreaths on behalf of the borough at the war memorial at St Kilda’s and Finchley United Services Club on Sunday at 11am and the Watling Community Centre memorial service at 2pm, and will also lay a wreath at the war memorial in Arkley.
The deputy mayor, the leader of the council and the leader of the opposition will lay wreaths at Hendon War Memorial. Armed forces reservists, veterans, cadets, emergency services, multi-faith representatives, scouts and the Salvation Army band will also be attending. The service begins at 10.40am and two minutes of silence will be observed at 11am.
Cllr Rich said: “It’s important for us to remember all those who have given their lives for us in wars around the world. Remembrance Sunday gives us the opportunity to pay tribute to their sacrifice, and to all those who have lost loved ones in conflict. People across the borough can join commemorations to pay their respects to the fallen. Lest we forget.”
The Town Hall will be illuminated in red on Armistice Day on 11th November.
