This year’s Colindale Gardens Social Committee summer fair was the fifth to be held reports Roshni Ray

Residents came together in Colindale last weekend to celebrate summer with a day of fun activities.
The event on 22nd July at Redrow’s Colindale inner park was organised by residents’ group Colindale Gardens Social Committee and was their fifth annual Summer Fair.
The community gathering included multiple attractions, from energetic arts performances to a plethora of food stalls.
Performances featured local dance group Colindale Bachata and Salsa Fitness and a children’s entertainer who amazed the audience with magic tricks and balloon animals. The committee also arranged face painting and arts and crafts tables for the children and their families.
Local small businesses were given the opportunity to run stalls at the event, from handmade crafts to food offerings including crepes, pizzas, Mexican food and ice cream.
Alongside the annual Summer Fair, each year the Social Committee also runs the Colindale Gardens Moon Festival and Diwali Festival.
Kamal Hersh, chairman of the Colindale Gardens Social Committee, said: “From the incredible performances and delicious food to the laughter of children enjoying the activities, the day was a true celebration of what makes Colindale Gardens such a special place to live.”
James Holmear, sales director at Barratt Redrow, added: “At Redrow, we know how important a tight-knit community is when choosing a place to live and we’re always looking to support local initiatives that bring people together.”
In partnership with Barnet Council, Redrow London is delivering 249 affordable homes, making a contribution towards Barnet Council’s goal of creating 1,000 new affordable homes by 2026.
