Finchley Foodbank is proud to share the news that its chair Brittany Jones completed the London Marathon on Sunday 27th April, in aid of the Foodbank.

Brittany has been a volunteer with the Foodbank since 2021 and became chair of their management group last year.

Brittany said “What an incredible experience. I’m grateful to the Finchley Foodbank team for the amazing love and support during my preparation and on the day. And thank you to the donors, friends, family and volunteers who contributed so generously to our fundraising total.

“Thanks also to Taylor Wimpey North Thames for their generous donation of £500 from the community fund for their North Finchley development, The Tramworks.

“All funds raised go directly to support the work of the Foodbank to provide for local people experiencing food poverty.”

Finchley Foodbank has been distributing emergency food items to people living in financial hardship in Barnet for 12 years. The Foodbank supports over 625 people a week through two weekly sessions where clients can choose items of food and toiletries.

The Foodbank is supported by St Mary’s Church in East Finchley, the local community, grant makers, charities, local businesses and organisations. Its services are dependent on funders and supporters, and over 200 local volunteers.

Brittany’s fundraising is set up here – Brittany Jones Marathon for Finchley Foodbank – with over £8,800 raised through the fundraising platform, and £500 from Taylor Wimpey, and will remain open until the end of May.
