Brittany Jones is taking part in the historic annual run in April writes Ann Campbell

Finchley Foodbank is proud to share the news that its chair Brittany Jones is running the London Marathon on Sunday 27th April, in aid of the foodbank.

Brittany has been a volunteer with the foodbank since 2021 and became chair of their management group last year.

She says “I love running, but it’s my first try at this distance! My training’s going well, and I’m pleased that I’m building my endurance, but it’s tough.

“To help me get out of the door on chilly mornings and evenings, I focus on my cause, fundraising for Finchley Foodbank to continue its important work supporting people in need. That’s a huge motivation.”

This month Finchley Foodbank marked 12 years providing emergency food items to people living in financial hardship in Barnet. The foodbank supports over 625 people a week through two weekly sessions where clients can choose items of food and toiletries.

The foodbank is supported by St Mary’s Church in East Finchley, the local community, grant makers, charities, local businesses and organisations. Its services are dependent on funders and supporters, and a bank of over 200 local volunteers.

Brittany’s fundraising is set up here – Brittany Jones Marathon for Finchley Foodbank – with over £1,000 for the foodbank already raised and an ambition for much more.
