Creative Communities is a Barnet Council initiative, led by the library service to deliver a programme of events, activities and experiences for local residents in Barnet. A wide range of events are being planned and delivered for children, teens and adults. The project is part-funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
This month, events at local libraries include Lego and Chit Chat, for adults to socialise while creating and building with bricks and a belly, and a Bollywood dance workshop. There’s a session with Mind on mindfulness for relaxation and stress reduction.
Colindale Library is hosting a Community Swap Shop, providing a sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe and give your home a new look. Older adults can enjoy a seated game of Noughts and Crosses using a giant board and coloured balls to secure the winning row. Children can learn to play or improve their chess or take part in a craft event, including making snow globes and winter ornaments.
The Creative Communities programme runs throughout the year. Discover the full range of events at www.barnet.gov.uk/creative-communities-events or pick up a booklet in your local library.
