Rana Rastegari talks to the team behind Flavour Bombs

A new small business based in the borough of Barnet is dreaming big after gaining popularity on TikTok.
Flavour Bombs are bath-bomb shaped spheres of spices and herbs that are designed to be put into a saucepan with water to create dishes from around the world.
The founders of the brand are Mill Hill-based husband and wife, Tina and Olly, who started their business in February. Tina told Barnet Post about the process of starting the business. She said: “I come from a big Middle Eastern Persian family and I love traveling and I have got friends and family all over the world. I’ve always loved recreating the dishes from my travels or from family and I noticed that a lot of the dishes were quite time consuming and required a lot of spices. I wanted to make it super easy to make for myself or for my friends to cook these dishes”.
After spending time in the USA for work, Tina explains how she fell in love with a seafood boil that she had in Boston. After recreating the sauce at home, it soon became one of her most requested dishes by family and friends. She did notice, however, how time consuming it was to make the sauce regularly, not to mention how much money and effort it required!
She started to pack all the spices and herbs into one sphere that she could just pop into a pan and one night, she explains that she and Olly were “watching Greg Wallace making bath bombs on TV and I just put two and two together”.
Tina and Olly have been making and using flavour bombs themselves for a long time but finally launched it as a business this year. They told Barnet Post that “In the space of four months we’ve expanded to a deli website, selling on amazon and international shipping.”
Tina added that she wanted to start a business “with the philosophy of making traditionally time consuming dishes with a lot of ingredients, super easy to make at home”.
The brand has expanded to offer four recipes, a seafood boil, birria tacos, pho and jollof rice with “minimal effort, maximum flavour”.
The Flavour Bombs TikTok account now has over 12,000 followers and the videos have exceeded 400,000 views. The duo plan to expand their recipes and flavours as their business grows.
In terms of their longer term goals, they stated “we’d love to be all over the world, in supermarkets. For local residents, they can reach out to us and pick up orders instead of having to pay delivery fees!”
