A community organisation has been congratulated by Barnet councillors after they brought carnival to West Hendon.

West Hendon Arts and Culture Society(WHACS)’s carnival event was held on Saturday 29th June and featured music, dancing, food stalls, arts and crafts.

Barnet Council leader Barry Rawlings said: “Its hard to believe that WHACS has only been going  for 18 months, but it has already brought so many events to West Hendon. It really is a building block of the community. I want to thank Lisa Ellis, Naomi Stanford and Astrid Levitt in particular for all their hard work.”

West Hendon councillor Ernest Ambe, who helped with the formation of WHACS and has supported its growth since said: “I am proud of how West Hendon’s community is really coming together through WAHCS. We’ve had Eid, Black History Month and Christmas events just a name a few. The carnival was just the latest success.”
