Barry Rawlings paid tribute to the team behind the East Barnet Festival which was held at the end of June

The leader of Barnet Council has thanked the organisers of a successful local festival which was held at the end of June.

The East Barnet Festival has been held for 20 years in Oak Hill Park, and now features a funfair, a car show, food stalls and dancing. It lasts for two days and this year took place from 28th to 29th June.

Council leader Barry Rawlings said: “I am very grateful for the volunteers who make the East Barnet Festival happen, like Myles Richardson, Lorna Doran, Val Culeen, Christine Shields, Ros Staines and Carmel Cannon.

“It such an achievement to put on a free festival like this year and year, and so many Barnet families enjoy it. It is a fixture of the borough’s summer.”

At a recent meeting of the full council, Cllr Kath McGuirk, who received an award for long service at the council of 30 years, described supporting as the festival being established in the first place as one of her proudest contributions to the borough.
