I am standing in Finchley and Golders Green because it was where I was born and grew up.

Playing with my sisters in Golders Hill Park and watching films in the Phoenix Cinema are fond memories that I can now share with my own daughters. This area is where I learnt my values – the importance of looking out for your neighbours, standing up for our community and fighting for what is right. Now, I want to represent this pocket of North London which means so much to all of us.

After fourteen years of this Conservative government our high streets are in decline, crime is on the rise, NHS waiting lists have never been higher and mortgages are through the roof. Our politics has been degraded with the lies of Partygate, the recklessness of Liz Truss’s mini-budget and sleaze at the heart of Government.

It’s time for change. We need politicians who are committed to public service and who will put residents first.

From fighting cuts to education for disabled children at Moss Hall nursery to campaigning against closures to the Royal Free maternity unit, I am standing on a proud record of delivering for our constituency. I would love to be able to do so much more as your MP.

But to make real change, we need a government that’s on our side.

Vote for me, to be your local champion in a Labour government.

You can read an overview of the contest here and statements six of the other candidates as follows: Alex Deane – Conservative, Brendan Donnelly – Rejoin EU, Sarah Hoyle – Liberal Democrats, Katharine Murphy – Party of Women, Steve Parsons – Green Party and Bepi Pezzulli – Reform UK.

Barnet Post approached Independent candidate Michael Shad for a statement but we have not received one.

Note: Barnet Post approached all candidates for the borough’s seats and offered them the opportunity to make a 250-word statement. The purpose of these statements is to give voters the clearest possible understanding of the perspectives of people who are asking for their support. In doing this, we acknowledge that some views expressed my cause offence and distress and apologise if this is the case.
