2024 marks the 76th anniversary of the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks
Barnet Council, in partnership with Barnet African Caribbean Association and Middlesex University, will be hosting a family friendly Windrush celebration event to mark national Windrush Day on Saturday 22nd June at Barnet Multi Cultural Community Centre.
This year marks the 76th anniversary of the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks in 1948, bringing the first Caribbean passengers to Britain. These individuals were invited to help address labour shortages in the UK after World War II.
The event will feature an exclusive showing of Barnet’s Windrush Stories, inspiring discussions, uplifting music, caribbean food and more.
Places are limited. Those wishing to attend should book their ticket at Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/barnet-celebrates-windrush-day-2024-tickets-909729905637
