A new charity campaign is asking Barnet residents to volunteer two hours per week to visit families facing challenging times

Home-Start London, a network of 16 local charities working with vulnerable families across London, is looking for volunteers to offer two hours per week to visit parents who need it most.

The aim of the campaign is to urge people to register their interest in volunteering.

Trained volunteers are at the heart of Home-Start’s support offer; volunteers who change lives by providing parents of young children with practical and emotional support during weekly home visits.

Jessica Greenhalf, Director of Home-Start London said: “Home-Starts across the capital help families during the crucial early years of raising a child, to give them the best start in life and avoid problems reaching a crisis point.  However, the picture across London is bleaker than ever and we are struggling to meet the increased demand for our services.

“With this campaign, we aim to show that as little as two hours of someone’s time can make a genuine, lifelong difference.”

The campaign, #My2hrs, which launched on Monday 26 February 2024, is accompanied by a two-minute video featuring real-life volunteers from the Home-Start London network explaining the difference volunteering makes to families as well as themselves.
