The Warm Spaces initiative launched in 2022 continues this year across the borough

Many in Barnet will be facing the dilemma of ‘heat or eat’ this winter.
Warm Spaces is a community-led initiative launched in 2022 in response to the cost of living crisis. Local business and community groups open their doors and provide welcoming space for residents to stay warm and engage with others in their community.
Barnet Council provides a searchable database of warm space in the borough which can tell anyone in need of warmth the nearest open warm space. It can be found here https://www.barnet.gov.uk/directories/warm-spaces.
The council’s Warm Spaces team can be contacted by email at [email protected].
According to data in the last census in 2021, hundreds of older people live alone in Barnet with no central heating.
