Several libraries across the borough can help get your spare coat to someone who needs one

As the weather grows colder, Barnet residents who find they have a spare warm, preloved winter coat hanging around are invited to donate it to Wrap Up London via libraries in Barnet this November
Several libraries in the borough are drop off points for the Wrap Up London project this autumn. Coats can be for adults or children. Donated coats go to one of 100 community projects across London, where it will go to someone in need
Coats can be dropped off during staffed opening hours at Childs Hill, Chipping Barnet, Colindale, Edgware, Finchley Church End, Hendon and North Finchley Libraries until Sunday 3 December.
Now in its 13th year, WrapUp London has become one of the largest winter volunteering events in London, with hundreds of people coming together during November and December to collect, transport, sort and distribute up to 30,000 warm coats.
Last year, over 400 coats were donated via libraries in Barnet.
No news is bad news
Independent news outlets like ours – reporting for the community without rich backers – are under threat of closure, turning British towns into news deserts.
The audiences they serve know less, understand less, and can do less.
