Residents led to safety after fire at Barnet restaurant

The fire brigade was called to the restaurant in Cockfosters Road shortly after 4.30 am

Nine people were led to safety by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus following a fire at a Barnet restaurant this morning.

The fire brigade was called to the restaurant with flats above in Cockfosters Road shortly after 4.30 am, with six fire engines and 40 firefighters from five local fire stations in attendance. Part of the restaurant was damaged by fire.

The fire was under control by 6.03 am and there were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
