At the start of Barnet Climate Action Week around 50 people came together to celebrate how cool beans can be.

For a couple of hours we spent time drinking tea, tasting different bean based recipes, sowing seeds, taking part in competitions, playing games and having great conversations.

Why are beans cool? They come in different shapes, sizes and colours, are affordable and good for our health and can be turned into a variety of tasty cakes, dips, salads, curries and more.

And by shifting to plant friendly diets and reducing the amount of meat and dairy products we consume we can help address the biodiversity and climate emergencies that we face.

What’s not to like?

You don’t have to be vegetarian or vegan – just gradually introduce plant-based ingredients into your diet and discover how you can save money and help save the planet.

Thanks go to Incredible Edible Barnet and St John’s United Reformed Church for organising and hosting a lovely way of celebrating how cool beans are.
