Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man who was assaulted in East Finchley.

53-year-old Paul Heyfron died on Sunday (12th July) after being assaulted in a shop on Brook Walk two weeks ago.

Police were called to the shop shortly after 10pm on Monday, 30th June after reports of an assault and the victim, who lived locally, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Detective Inspector Jon Moseling, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with Paul’s family following this tragic news.

“Our enquiries are continuing at pace, and we will update the community when we can.

“I would ask anyone with any information, CCTV or doorbell camera footage which could support the investigation to contact us.

“We are aware of online and public speculation and I urge people not to share or engage with speculation.”

The police say anyone with information or footage should contact them on 101, quoting CAD 9157/30JUN26, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
