Usually competing one property at a time, estate agents, letting agents, landlords, developers and suppliers put their competitiveness to use for a good cause last month.

On Thursday, 11th June, they stepped into the ring for the 11th edition of the ‘Rumble with the agents’ charity boxing event, held a hotel in Golders Green. They hoped to raise money for North London Hospice and they certainly delivered.

Hosted by Paul Shamplina, founder of the event and Landlord Action, the sold-out show featured live boxing bouts, a three-course meal, raffle, auction and fundraising activities throughout the evening.

The event’s team confirmed that £11,665 had been raised on the night through the raffle, pledge envelopes and auction. Following additional proceeds from the silent auction platform and their own contribution, the final fundraising total reached £15,000.

Paul Shamplina said: “Every year I am blown away by the generosity of the property industry.”

Since launching in 2015, he has raised more than £200,000 for charitable causes, supporting organisations working across homelessness, mental health, community support and end-of-life care.

He added: “What started as a way of combining my passion for boxing with raising money for good causes has become a fantastic industry event that continues to make a real difference.

“North London Hospice does incredible work supporting patients and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives. It is a charity that means a great deal to many people locally and we were delighted to support them this year.”

Founded in 1984, North London Hospice is a multi-faith hospice that receives referrals for over 3,500 patients with life-limiting illnesses each year, alongside their families, friends and carers. While its services are provided free of charge, the charity relies heavily on fundraising and community support to continue delivering its vital work

Pippa Baker, head of fundraising at North London Hospice, said: “We are so very grateful for the hugely impressive £15,000 that was raised to help our patients by the team and sponsors. Every penny raised helps to ensure that those living in North London, with a life-limiting illness, are not alone and that they receive the kindness, dignity and care everyone deserves at the end of life.”

“Support from events such as this is more important than ever. Demand for hospice services continues to grow while the hospice sector faces significant financial pressures. The vital funds raised will make a big difference.”
