Nick Sandamas on the Bees’ preparations for their second season back in League Two

After a strong first season back in the Football League, where Barnet just missed out on the play-offs, it was that time to say goodbye to some of those players who were part of the National League title winning squad in 2024/25.
Ryan Glover and Callum Stead have made the step up to League One to join Stockport County and Cambridge United respectively, whilst Mark Shelton has moved up north to join last season’s National League winners York City. Anthony Hartigan has gone to Southend and Myles Kenlock has left following the end of his contract
However, the Bees have been able to keep hold of some of their other title winners in Nik Taveras, Danny Collinge and Idris Kanu.
As we went to press, five new players have entered The Hive door; defenders Zac Williams, Craig Farquar, the midfield duo of Brandon Gormley and Charlie Lakin from Walsall, and Isiah Noel-Williams from Brennan’s old club Hemel Hempstead. More are likely to follow.
The pre-season schedule starts on Tuesday, 7th July away to Hitchin Town then it’s the annual trip to Hemel Hempstead to compete for the Spencer Cole Trophy.
A tasty set of home friendlies follow against Watford, Luton Town, Oxford United, MK Dons and Bromley before the season gets underway in earnest on Saturday, 8th August with round one of the League up.
By the time you read this, the Bees’ League Two fixtures will have been released, so it’s time to get those diaries out to start planning for the 2026/27 season.
