A former student and local resident is displaying her work at an exhibition at Middlesex University.

Barnet resident Lotte Siu is showcasing her award-winning illustrations in the ‘World Illustration Awards (WIA)’ touring exhibition located at Middlesex University until April 2nd.

The exhibition features the work of newly established artists from all over the world, all showcasing a different vision and story behind their work. The categories range from: editorial, advertising, design and children’s publishing.

Lotte, who lives in Barnet, said: “It’s an honour to receive this recognition. The awards highlight the power of illustration to communicate stories across cultures and borders, and it’s been fantastic to share my work with wider audiences and connect with other illustrators and art lovers around the world.”

Lotte will be showcasing her artwork titled The sound of Cinema, which won the ‘New Title in Advertising’ category.

Lotte, who is described as “a stand-out student who made the best use of our excellent facilities and benefited from the realistic industry-level briefs.”, graduated last year from Middlesex with a degree in illustration.

Since then, she has won a live brief -ran with Phoenix magazine, got an Adobe creative apprenticeship, was shortlisted in a competition for Penguin Publishers, as well as winning the World Industry Awards.

She said: “It’s magical seeing my work on display at Middlesex University, and I hope the exhibition will inspire current students. The course taught me to think about composition and storytelling in illustration, as well as artistic skills.”

Louise Weir, a senior lecturer at Middlesex, said: “It’s fantastic to see our illustration talent at Middlesex on display” and “We’re delighted to be hosting such an important exhibition at Middlesex and proud of Lotte’s achievement.”

The exhibition will include 44 award-winning projects and is celebrating its ten-year anniversary. It celebrates all forms of illustration, ranging from packaging, book covers, magazines, newspapers, brochures and posters, including all types of styles, techniques, ideas and cultures.

The World Illustration Awards exhibition runs until 2nd April alongside another exhibition of work by current students which runs until 9th April at the Grove Building, Middlesex University, 79 The Burroughs, London NW4 4AX
