Police investigating racist attack after man pushed in front of a car in North Finchley

A man in his 70s was attacked after receiving antisemitic abuse in Woodside Park Road on Sunday

Police are investigated a racially aggravated assault after a man was pushed in front of a car in North Finchley on Sunday morning.

The man, who is in his 70s, received antisemitic abuse before being pushed in front of the car. The police responded to reports of the incident at 11.30am. The victim was not injured and the suspect left the scene before police arrived.

The Jewish Chronicle reports that the victim was Jewish music producer Brian Harris.

No arrests have been made and the police say they are making urgent enquiries and have stepped up patrols in the surrounding area.

The suspect is described as a white man, of medium build, with black hair. He was wearing dark sunglasses, a dark woolly hat and a black hoodie.

Anybody who witnessed the incident – or who has information – is urged to call 101, quoting reference 2776/08MAR. Alternatively, an anonymous report can be made via independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
