Barnet headed to South Wales on Boxing Day to face bottom of the table Newport County, a great chance to improve on the recent form that had seen Dean Brennan’s side slide from play-off contenders to mid table obscurity.

The Bees travelled to the principality following only one league win in the last twelve league games going back to mid October but an average game ended in a goalless draw.

Next up was a trip to Bristol Rovers on Monday. Since the Bees won 4-0 against the Pirates earlier this month, Rovers had installed Steve Evans as their boss but the new manager bounce didn’t affect the black and amber as they came away from the Memorial Stadium with all three points.

They also secured a clean sheet in a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Adam Senior and Ryan Glover, to ensure they ended the year on a high in mid table in League Two as they prepare for the visit of Crawley Town on New Year’s Day.
