Catherine Lusted on inspiration to do more reading

An exciting new reading challenge comes to Barnet Libraries this month. Open to all Barnet library members aged 16 and over, taking part is easy: simply register at any Barnet Library in staffed opening times and read two library books between 15th January and 28th February.
You can choose any titles you like – including eBooks and eAudiobooks available free through Libby and BorrowBox.
Complete the challenge and you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 retail voucher! Plus, submit a book review and you could win an additional £25 voucher.
Whether you’re aiming to read more in the new year, improve your literacy skills, or just enjoy great stories, this is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself and celebrate reading.
Start 2026, the National Year of Reading with a bang – pick up your challenge card at your nearest Barnet Library from Thursday, 15th January.
